This entry comes from Brugge because the internet in Amsterdam was way too expensive. Amsterdam went well. We arrived in the middle of the day and went to our hostel, Durty Nellys Irish pub and hotel. There was a small problem because kent accidently booked us for two nights for the 29th and we arrived on the 28th. The staff was very helpful and put us up in a hotel for the night across town. We then trecked over to the square where our new hotel was to drop our bags and get some dinner. After dinner we wandered around the city for a few hours and saw the red light district. It was kind of weird seeing women dancing in store front windows but some how we managed to be ok. Then we crashed early. the following morning we had to go back to durty nellys to recheck in and again drop our bags. We did a few museums in the afternoon including the Van Gogh museum and a bible museum. That night we did not do anything special and walked around some more. The only things to do in Amsterdam at night were bars and clubs and nothing was cheap, just touristy.
Next morning we checked out and went to the sex museum. It was mostly just pictures of people doing the nasty and sex toys on display, but we found it very entertaining and funny. Then we had to head to the train station to take three different trains to end up in Brugge in Belgium. Brugge is way more low key and nicer looking, and cheaper. Sorry this is so short but the key board is really different and frustrating so I will leave it here and hopefully more detailed entry will follow.

Sounds like you are still having a great trip. Can you believe when I was in Amsterdam my friend, Karen, didn't notice the girls in the windows when we crossed over to the Red Light District?!? You'd think that would be pretty hard to miss!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Brugge, it is said to be the 'Venice of the North.' Nice and low-key is a good description of the city, just don't spend 4 days there like we did. You can definitely do Brugge in a day or two -
Can't wait to hear about the next destination!
